A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds.
Francis Bacon, British Philosopher
It seems like I have only just begun my love affair with running. I still would love to consider myself a novice runner. Truth is, I have been doing this for just over four years now. I guess it is time for me to say, I am no longer a novice.
So, what have I learned over the past four years? One thing is that I wouldn’t be where I am if I didn’t start. I didn’t get three marathons, countless 5 Ks and 10 Ks, two Turkey Trots, and three Half Marathons in my reportoire if I sat back and just waited for it to happen.
Each one of those races required preperation and initiative. I had to take the time to plan my schedule, plan my training, purchase gear, and do the work. There isn’t much in life that is just handed to us. We must work hard for the great things in our lives.
My question to you is. What is your dream? What do you want to do or change in your life? Take time today and make a plan to accomplish it. Eat the elephant one bite at a time if you will. But, don’t be afraid to dream big.
Sure, you may fall or even fail along the way, Just get back up and keep going. A failure is not a bad thing. It means you tried and learned you need to do something differently. Embrace the journey and be free to have a blast.
